ReplyDeleteAnd Archie? Well, I guess most people would say they failed, and it would seem they weren't financial viable enough to continue, but I think they're great! (And honestly Marvel didn't do much better with spooky anthologies, with a shared taste for monster tales as well.) I like that the regular Archie artists were trying something different and creating something unique & entertaining.
Truly enjoyable stuff.
I thought the Gray Morrow edited Red Circle Mystery Comics were pretty damn good also but I do enjoy these earlier tales.
ReplyDeleteI would call most of Gold Key's books 'Mystery Comics' as well and don't forget ACG and their own brand of fantastic tales.
