There are times when a horror comic hits a bit too close to home. I know it is only fiction, but this tale slightly mirrors a real life incident.
Long story short, in Bucks County PA a young man killed four men over a drug deal and buried their bodies on his family's farm. They caught the guy and he is now serving a life sentence, but as I said, a fictional tale can sometimes hit a bit too close to home.
I didn't know anything about that real life story. I just thought it was an interesting tale with nice art by Bill Payne who should have done more work in comics.
Bill Payne's art in this story is like a cross between Bernie Wrightson and Gene Colan...
And speaking of Gene Colan, was there ever a part two of that Ragamuffins tale you posted? I got a single issue collection of those stories from a discount bin many years ago and always wished there had been more of them. They're like Don MacGregor's Killraven stories for Marvel but with all the fantasy/sci-fi elements drained out of them. I'm sure that sounds like a turn-off for many comics fans, but I think it left the Ragamuffins tales pretty pure.

I don't mean to be a killjoy, this was a great story, I am glad you posted it, but for me it just a bit more chilling than most horror comic tales.
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for all the hard work you do in posting great tales!
