  1. If the undertaker deserves a comeuppance, what about the pallbearers who would supposedly be the old man's 'friends' & family and are equally willing to bury him alive? I say the undertaker has been unfairly singled out.

    And about that undertaker, Bill Everett's art could at times take a turn to the Basil Woolvertoonish, and I think especially the beginning of this story is one of those times. That was one of Everett's strengthes, I think, that he could produce art that was quite slick but could also manage a loopier or a more grotesque style. I've even seen where he could do a mean Dan DeCarlo...

  2. Bill Everett was a genius artist. I loved his work in the 50's along with Bob Powell and Matt Baker and Basil Wolverton too!
