I would consider that second story pretty unlikely EXCEPT that Nixon apparently credited his appearance on LAUGH IN for helping him win an election.

It's interesting as well that one of the Roller Derby women is named Raquel as Raquel Welch made a roller derby film 'Kansas City Bomber"
