Yet Even More Comic Book Fun From The Past With Other Strange Stuff Thrown In Just For The Heck Of It.
This is pretty solid Archie fare. OK, the ending of the last story makes you work too hard: it can be assumed that Jughead is in detention, but the reader shouldn't have to be assuming anything if the writer & artist have done their jobs properly. That excepting, everything's well-executed.
ReplyDeleteThat second story is an interesting case in light of current gender politics. Meaning, is Jughead attracted to the boy in Rocky? And is Rocky actually a boy on the inside? Also, while Archie may be looking forward to Jughead becoming sexually 'normal', there's tacit acceptance for Jughead's--and new character Rocky's, I think--non-standard status quo. Neither is held up to ridicule, at least.
Jughead is an interesting character. At time he just seems to be interested in food.
