I had never seen any copies of Midnight Tales growing up, my supply of Charlton comics, or any comics, was limited. Growing up I didn't have any comic shops nearby, and by the time a comic shop did open up, I was in my thirties and had lost interest in comics by then.
Midnight Tales was an interesting twist as far as anthology stories in comics is concerned. Its a shame Charlton didn't get much appreciation back then.
There were only 18 Issues of Midnight tales and most of them had art by Wayne Howard, The book only ran for two years. I bought a few off the stands in the mid 70's. Charlton gets a lot more appreciation now but still some people think it was 3rd rate or something. They were great fun.
Eighteen issues is not such a bad run. The EC horror titles only ran something like thirty-two issues and war title FRONT-LINE COMBAT was only something like fourteen.
MIDNIGHT TALES is another Charlton title I'd be glad to see you post more of. It has an interesting conceit with the three thematically linked stories and the tongue-in-cheek take on the 'ghost' books. The Charlton cousin to DC's PLOP or the other way around?
