Bill Everett, great as always, going full-fledged Basil Wolverton/Lena the Hyena mode with that gypsy woman. 'Oh, the horrors! She's old & ugly and I almost kissed her!' That's getting yer priorities straight! (or not...) To be perfectly honest, that's basically how I feel about 'Jessica' by Bruce Jones & Bernie Wrightson, where the crowning horror is sex with an ugly girl. Not the bloodshed or losing his family: sex with an ugly girl (though, granted, she is a special kind of ugly...)
ReplyDelete'Jennifer' is one of my favorite Berni Wrightson Warren stories. Bill Everett did some incredible art in the 1950's.
