See... this doesn't look anything like Bob Montana or any other Archie artist... in fact the guys all look like they escaped from a BAZOOKA JOE gum wrapper... and, no, that's not a put-down... he's iconic, too.
That's one slick line Chic Stone's got going, too. I enjoy his adventure & fantasy work from the sixities, but it can be inconsistent (he was a self-described hack for what it's worth), but this says 'professionalism' to me. Then again apples & oranges, I guess.

I enjoyed Chic Stone's inking on Jack Kirby a lot. Nemesis was fun too. I even like some of his covers for Eerie publications.
ReplyDeleteTV Teens was good and fun and I didn't realize he was working in comics in the early 1950's.
