  1. Warren had success with their horror comics. DC had success with their mystery comics. Charlton had success with their ghost comics. Goldkey had success with whatever they called their comics.

    And Archie? Well, I guess most people would say they failed, and it would seem they weren't financial viable enough to continue, but I think they're great! (And honestly Marvel didn't do much better with spooky anthologies, with a shared taste for monster tales as well.) I like that the regular Archie artists were trying something different and creating something unique & entertaining.

    Truly enjoyable stuff.

  2. I thought the Gray Morrow edited Red Circle Mystery Comics were pretty damn good also but I do enjoy these earlier tales.

    I would call most of Gold Key's books 'Mystery Comics' as well and don't forget ACG and their own brand of fantastic tales.
